Plan your Website in Inspiration then Export to HTML

You can plan your website using a template in Inspiration 7.6 and export it for use in your favorite web authoring program.

1. Launch Inspiration 7.6, go to File/Open Template
2. Navigate to the Planning folder, open it, and select the Web Site Plan and click Open
3. Follow the directions at the bottom on how to use the template. Remember to save as you go.
4. Delete any unused symbols.
5. When your plan is complete, choose the Export as HTML command from the File menu.
6. Select the Site Skeleton radio button at the bottom and click Save.
7. You will be asked where you want to save the site skeleton. You may also rename the file if you wish. The folder and index file will be labeled whatever your HomePage is labeled by default.
8. You will want to rename the index page "index.html" or whatever your hosting site requires, and place it inside the site folder. You should also create an "images" or "resources" folder inside your site folder to hold your graphics and other multimedia files.
9. Upload or copy your new website to your web server folder when you have added content to each of the pages.

Plan your PowerPoint Presentations using Inspiration Outline View

Did you know that you and your students can plan PowerPoint presentations using Inspiration outline view then export directly into a PowerPoint presentation? Each Topic and subtopic will be placed on a slide in PowerPoint.

1. Plan your presentation using Inspiration 7.5 in Outline view.
2. Save the outline in case you need to make changes or want to print it as a handout for your presentation.
3. Go to the File menu in Inspiration and choose Export.
4. Select the Microsoft PowerPoint Format and click Save.
5. Choose a destination and a filename for you presentation (both Inspiration and PowerPoint use your Main Idea as a file name by default).
6. You can choose a design template for your presentation by going to the Format menu and choosing the Apply Design Template command.

Once you have finished your presentation, it is easy to post it to your website or convert it to a PowerPoint movie for people who don't have PowerPoint on their computers at home. Students can then open the presentation on their home computers to review the day's lesson (great for student who are ill). You can even record a narration to go along with your presentation if you like.

Using the "No Child Left Behind" criteria for scientifically based research (SBR), 29 studies were identified and evaluated as SBR and used as evidence for the instructional effectiveness of the use of graphic organizers such as Kidspiration® and Inspiration.

The study, "Graphic Organizers: A Review of the Scientifically Based Research," shows that using graphic organizers-concept maps, webs, idea maps and more-improve performance across several content areas, multiple grade levels, and different student populations.
