Getting To Know Your Teacher

Hi, my name is Janice Hickman and I am very excited to be teaching at C. O. Harrison! I have been teaching here since I moved to Cincinnati in 2002! I was born and raised in Michigan. (GO BLUE!)

I graduated from Xavier University with a Masters in Educational Administration in 2004. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Michigan University.

I love teaching!  Everyday I learn something new.  It is exciting to be a part of so much success and so many students who will go on to achieve great things.  Reading is key to lifelong success.  You will always read.  I love to read for pleasure but also read a great deal for my job.  Keep practicing, everyday!

I especially love teaching fifth grade! We are the leaders of the school! There are so many privileges and responsibilities that go along with that!

I married my wonderful husband on August 4, 2001. He is also from Michigan, we met in college. He enjoys the Cubs, U of M and Lions football, Red Wings and Cincinnati Mighty Ducks hockey, Corvettes and ESPN!

Our son, Nathan, was born March 2, 2005.  He is truely a wonderful blessing and occupies most of our free time.

We also have a dog named Yzzy. (izzee)  We got her at the SPCA.  She is half Hound and half German Shepherd and a whole lot of fun!

I also enjoy scrap booking, gardening, exercising and watching sports!
