PHYSICAL EDUCATION & FITNESS

Through a variety of activities, both sport related and fitness specific, a student at Oak Hills High School can improve or maintain their physical fitness. Freshman students learn lifetime sports and activities along with daily exercise and physical conditioning. Sophomore classes maintain a focus toward cardiovascular training, strength training, and flexibility. These classes rotate day-to-day with an activity-day (sport) included. A student can also enroll in elective phys. ed. too.

Fitness and the Oak Hills Student

In today's busy, multi-tasking world, fitness can sometimes take a backseat in one's daily life schedule. Oak Hills High School provides a top notch fitness program for it's students. Students are coached through a wide variety of physical activities. It's no secret that physical activity plays an integral role in the day to day life of a student. Exercise helps students in many ways. In fact, a study conducted at The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) found that students who participated in a regular exercise program performed better in academic endeavors. So, good workouts can help to improve those grades!!!

Our Fitness Education Chairperson, Dick Roche has been the director of this program and making sure that students have many venues to further their fitness levels. Through a wide variety of sport and physical training, the fitness staff can help motivate students to improve every day.

"Good, better, best; never let it rest till your good is better and your better is best."

Here's a photo of Mr. Scott Zang taking his 3rd bell class through a series of warm-ups prior to the end of the semester fitness tests. Mr Zang is also the Head Wrestling Coach at Oak Hills. Coach knows how to motivate high school students to improve their fitness!!!
